What did she say? Full funding!

Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White assisted in the Save Illinois Libraries Campaign Kick Off at the2009 ILA Conference in Peoria. NSLS Executive Director Sarah Long gave a passionate speech covering the details of the campaign.

Here’s what you can do!

• Visit SaveIllinoisLibraries.com for information about the budget cuts and the campaign.
• Contact your legislator before October 23, 2009 and urge them to commit to this pledge:“Recognizing the importance of libraries and library systems to our communities and to the livelihood of the citizens of the state of Illinois, I (lawmaker) will work to oppose any additional cuts to library per capita grants in FY10.  Furthermore, I will work to fully fund library per capita grants when additional state funding becomes available in the future.” A template letter is available on ILA’s CapWiz site.
• Follow up with your legislators.
• Tell your story!
• Become a fan on Facebook.

Now is the time to come together and take action to save Illinois libraries!
